How do I apply for a project ?

As soon as you've signed up on Casting Lux, your profile will be automatically eligible for all projects under each category you have chosen. If a casting agent finds your profile suitable for a particular role, they will suggest it to the head of project.

Once you are selected, you will receive an email with a description of the project and your role in it. You can then decide whether you would like to accept the project.

When will I be notified of a casting ?

Our system will automatically notify you as soon as you have been selected by a casting agent and confirmed by the production company.

Normally, you will receive the information a few weeks prior to the filming dates. Occasionally however, you may receive notification on short notice, due to circumstances related to the production company, e.g. when the director decides to increase the number of background extras.

Will I be paid if I get cast in a project ?

Once you're cast in a professional production, you will receive a defrayal for your attendance, depending on the extent of your part. For example, extras normally start at 60€ a day.

What information do I need to provide ?

In order to find a suitable role for you, our casting agents request information related to your physical appearance, the language(s) you speak and any additional talent/experiences you would like to share with us.

You will notice that some information is optional, however it is recommended that you fill in as much information as possible because this will help directors and producers to select the best possible choices for their projects.

Please note, that a more completed profile will provide a better chance of being selected. A completely filled out profile provides the best chance to get cast.

How long does shooting normally take ?

Taking into consideration the complexities of a film shoot, e.g. the number of actors present, complicated camera moves, stunts and the necessity for several takes from different angles, we cannot give you the exact timings of the start nor the end of the shoot. Therefore, it is advised that you should be available the entire day.

However, if possible we will always try to give you an approximate indication of the timings. Please note, that some film shoots take place during the day time and others during the night time.

Will there be catering during the day(s) of shooting ?

Generally, snacks are provided. For film shoots that last longer than half a day you can expect a warm meal, depending on the film production company.

Please note, that is strongly advised that you bring along some snacks due to the flexible nature of the time-table and at times the unpredictability of the exact time the meal would be served.

Why isn't your service free of charge ?

Offering Casting Lux as a premium service, allows us to provide and maintain a high quality service while continuing to improve the platform and putting energy into its future development as well as enabling an apt customer service.

As much as we would like to offer our service for free, we simply can't due to the high expenses linked to building/mainting a website & interactive talent app, not to mention certain business, legal and technical constrains (like monthly web-server hosting bills and other infrastructure).

There might be casting services that offer a free membership, but then sell your data to other companies for profit.
Casting Lux rather likes to keep your data private, and therefore asks you to pay a little fee in return for your membership that allows us to keep our servers running & cover our initial development costs.

How much is a membership for Casting Lux ?

The modular nature of our pricing structure allows you to sign up only for the categories you are interested in. Compared to other subscription services, this means you never have to pay for services that you never intend to use.

In summary, you set the amount of your subscription fee yourself through your choice of casting categories.

Why do additional casting categories cost more ?

The price increases as your chances to get cast also increase. Statistically, the more categories you select, the more visible you are in our database, the higher your chance to get a part.

Can I also pay monthly ?

As the payable amount is considerably low and covers a one year period, we can only accept the payment in one single transaction. The aforementioned one year period starts on the day of your payment. At the end of this period, you will receive a notification asking you if you wish to continue being registered at Casting Lux for another year.

How can I change my profile's email address ?

If you would like to change your email address, please send us a request from your profile's original email address with your new email address to info[at]castinglux.com.

How do I deactivate or delete my account ?

Deactivate your account

If you don't want to be a member anymore (and don't pay membership fees), you can simply uncheck all casting categories in your casting profile (and uncheck the newsletter if you like).

Delete your account

This will delete all your data - you can't reuse your profile again and must make a new one. If you like to use this option, please send us a request from your profile's email address to info[at]castinglux.com.

Who will be able to see my data ?

We aim to keep all of your personal data strictly confidential. Only the Casting Lux team as well as trusted directors and producers will be able to see select information about you.

In case you accept a role, the project's production company will be granted access to some additional data (e.g. full name).

How is my data used ?

How is payment handled and secured ?

All payments are managed by a specialized, highly-secured payment provider (stripe) which offers state of the art security for financial transactions (find their privacy policy here).

This means no payment information (e.g. credit card) is stored by us or will even touch our servers.
